NBA-China Scandal Crashes Nike Sneaker-Backed Crypto Token Price As Reuters reports on Oct. 16, an anonymous trader’s Weibo post from earlier this month had shone a spotlight on an apparent 10% crash in the price of crypto tokens backed by Nike’s Air Jordan sneakers on 55.com, a United States-based exchange. “It’s clear sneaker speculators were pulling money out of the market,” the trader told Reuters. He interpreted the market response in the context of Chinese netizens’ anger over a now-notorious tweet from Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, in which he declared solidarity with anti-government, anti-Beijing protesters in Hong Kong.
Foxconn Founder: Libra Can ‘Converge’ With China’s Digital Currency In Taiwan Terry Gou, Taiwan’s richest man and the founder of manufacturing giant Foxconn, wants the island to roll out the red carpet for Facebook’s Libra cryptocurrency project. In a recent, little-noticed speech, the billionaire and one-time presidential candidate said Taiwan could boost its status as an international financial hub by embracing Libra, rather than approaching the project with skepticism as other governments have done. Gou also suggested the island could connect Libra, if and when it launches, with the digital currency being developed by the People’s Bank of China.
Ex-CFTC Chairman Proposes Digital Dollar, A Government-Sanctioned Blockchain Protocol Former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) chairman Christopher Giancarlo, who had parted ways with the regulator this summer, published an article, named “We Sent a Man to the Moon. We Can Send the Dollar to Cyberspace,” stating that Washington should edge out rivals with a regulated platform for trading greenbacks via blockchain. “We propose a digital dollar — a government-sanctioned blockchain protocol, created and maintained by an independent nongovernmental group but administered by banks and other trusted payment organizations,” his words read.
SEC Restarts Clock On Proposed ‘Bitcoin and T-Bills’ ETF According to a public filing published on Oct 15, investment management firm Wilshire Phoenix and NYSE Arca filed an amendment to their ETF proposal earlier this month to address issuance and redemption for the securities and the listing trading of the fund’s shares. Coinbase Custody will act as the custodian for the bitcoin held by the trust, according to the filing. The notice of Oct 15 says Coinbase will provide attestations confirming the amount of Bitcoin it holds within five business days of the trust’s monthly rebalancing, adding a detail not present in the original filing.

Yesterday, we discussed the chances of a possible rebound in bitcoin if it breaks the $8,400 resistance against the US Dollar. However, BTC price struggled to climb above the $8,400 resistance area. As a result, there was a fresh decline below the $8,300 level. Moreover, there was a break below the key $8,200 support area and the 100 hourly simple moving average.
Finally, the price traded below the $8,100 level and formed a new weekly low near $8,062. It is currently consolidating losses above the $8,100 level. Besides, it traded above the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $8,386 high to $8,062 low. An immediate resistance is near the $8,200 level (the recent key support). The next resistance is near the $8,220 level and the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $8,386 high to $8,062 low.
However, the main resistance for bitcoin is near the $8,300 level and the 100 hourly SMA. Furthermore, there is a key declining channel forming with resistance near $8,350 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair. Therefore, a successful break above the channel resistance and a follow through above $8,400 is must for a decent recovery in the near term.
On the downside, there are not many supports up to $8,000. If the bears gain strength, they may perhaps succeed in clearing the $8,000 support area. The next major support is near the $7,800 level, below which the price is likely to head towards the $7,500 zone.

Craig Wright: The Real Satoshi Or The Real Scammer

Today we will focus on Craig Wright, the person who took the liberty to declare himself as true Satoshi Nakamoto and who tries to take all the credit of the creator of Bitcoin, the main cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin is considered to be one of the progressive forms of payments — absolutely transparent, distributed and resistant to external influence. Its creator must be at least a genius, and most importantly, a billionaire — because a significant amount of Bitcoins mined in the early stages of the project is concentrated in his hands. It is known that Satoshi Nakamoto retired from the project around 2010 and no one knows exactly who is he really is.
In December 2015, two American publications — Gizmodo and Wired — published huge investigations aimed at finding a man who has been hiding under the name of Satoshi Nakamoto since 2008. Clues led journalists to Craig Wright, a 45-year-old entrepreneur from Australia, which on many grounds could be reckoned as a true Satoshi. For example, there were publications about the ideas of a decentralized payment system similar to Bitcoin in Wright’s blog in 2008, a year before Satoshi Nakamoto himself created BTC. Another interesting fact is that in 2013 he invested more than one million BTC in the project to create his Bitcoin Bank — supposedly only the creator of Bitcoin could own such amount of coins.
In correspondence with the publications, Craig indirectly confirmed that he is Nakamoto. At the same time, in December, 2015, Wright said that he was not going to talk about himself publicly. But almost six months later Craig Wright appeared on the front pages. Unexpectedly for many, Craig decides to give an interview to the BBC and The Economist, in which once again, but already publicly assures that he is Satoshi Nakamoto. As the main proof, Wright provided a “cryptographic signature” from the private key used in the first Bitcoin transactions by Satoshi Nakamoto himself.
Since then, Dr. Wright did not give up his words and continued to tell everyone that he is Satoshi. Later Craig said that he would sue anyone who slanders him and generally denies his merits in the creation of Bitcoin.
And while he was just talking around declaring himself as the creator of BTC — all this was tolerated and ignored. But when Wright began to threaten all who disagreed with his lies, the crypto-community decided to teach him a lesson.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao wrote the following on his Twitter:
“Craig Wright is not Satoshi. Anymore of this sh!t, we delist!”
His example was followed by some other exchanges, like ShapeShift and Kraken, which also announced the delisting of BSV.
Blogger and ex-hacker Nik Cubrilovic and cybersecurity researcher Dan Kaminsky published their own investigations in which Wright is exposed as a great deceiver. Enthusiasts also investigated the activities of Wright and his companies. It turned out that the purpose of the existence of many of them was to draw tax refunds and the operation of other benefits that are provided to companies focused on research activities.
When an entrepreneur’s business started to decline and companies have earned an unpleasant reputation, Wright decides to appear before the public as Satoshi Nakamoto. According to Cubrilovic’s opinion, this could improve Craig’s affairs, attract new investments and add excitement since it is known that Nakamoto owns large amounts of Bitcoins.
Craig’s opponents also notice one detail: Satoshi Nakamoto would certainly stand on the side of the Bitcoin community that would like to leave the BTC system in its original form. However, in a conversation with The Economist Wright drew a different picture: if Bitcoin power can be repeatedly scaled, then it will be able to replace not only all banking systems but many others, becoming a truly mainstream currency.
In this case, the regulation and support of such cryptocurrency would have to be taken up by large organizations — from banks, already interested in using blockchain technology, to entire states. If this happens, Bitcoin will really replace conventional currency but will lose its independence — the main reason for its creation.
Here are some interesting facts about Craig Wright:
  1. In the early 1990s, worked as a sauce cook at a French restaurant.
  2. Wright filed about 114 Blockchain-related patents since 2017
  3. Craig Wright has his own companies, for example, the Tulip Trading company, which has been very successful in developing supercomputers, as well as DeMorgan Ltd and Panopticrypt Pty Ltd, engaged in various operations with cryptocurrencies. But Wright’s main project is, of course, his own Bitcoin SV (Satoshi Vision), which appeared as a result of the fork of Bitcoin Cash in November 2018. The fork’s reason was the dissatisfaction of developers and miners with a size of the blockchain that was originally written in code. Transactions were processed very slowly, so Bitcoin Cash ABC appeared, where the size was increased to 8 megabytes. But this was not enough for Craig Wright, and he initiated the second fork, setting the block size to 128 megabytes in the currency he was in charge of.
  4. In February 2018 Wright was sued by David Kleiman — a computer scientist and cyber-security expert suspected to be one of the developers behind the Bitcoin and the blockchain tech. Kleiman said that Wright stole between 550,000 and 1,100,000 BTC.
  5. In 2018, Craig Wright was sued, accusing him of forging contracts and signatures in order to assign Bitcoins in the amount of $5 billion.
  6. In October 2017, Cointelegraph published a list of the most influential individuals from the blockchain industry. Not finding his name in it, Craig Wright appealed to the media with a comment about their negative mood regarding his personality. At the same time in the Cointelegraph ranking was the name Satoshi Nakamoto. This situation was noted as Wright’s recognition that he is not the creator of Bitcoin.
  7. Craig is suspected of repeatedly conducting operations to cash large amounts of BTC. During one of the checks, he brought the family from his native Sydney and moved to London to continue working and creating his own business.

He said, “We are cautious. And my role as minister has me looking at this in substantial detail. I am cautious in relation to stablecoins and in relation to Libra. My senior minister is very cautious. The Central Bank of Ireland regulator is cautious. So we’re somewhere between cautious and very cautious.” According to the minister, the benefits stablecoins can have internationally are well-understood and accepted. However, the challenges they could pose to governmental and monetary policies cannot be overlooked, D’Arcy said.

Yesterday, there was a nasty drop in bitcoin below the $9,000 support area against the US Dollar. The price declined close to 15% and even traded below the $8,500 level. Finally, the price settled well below the 100 hourly simple moving average and traded to a new monthly low at $8,055. Later, there was an upside correction above the $8,200 and $8,400 levels.
Moreover, the price recovered above the $8,500 level, plus the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the last major decline from the $10,087 high to $8,055 low. However, the upward move was capped by the $8,750 and $8,800 resistance levels. The bulls made a few attempts to push the price above $8,800, but they failed. As a result, the price started trading in a range below $8,800. At the outset, there is a key breakout pattern forming with resistance near $8,600 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair.
To start a strong recovery, bitcoin price must surpass the $8,600 and $8,800 resistance levels. The next key resistance is near the $9,000 and $9,080 levels. Moreover, the 50% Fib retracement level of the last major decline from the $10,087 high to $8,055 low is also near the $9,070 level. Finally, there is a connecting bearish trend line forming on the same chart with resistance near $9,350 and the 100 hourly SMA.

Crypto Whales?

I was asked to look into crypto whales and see what i could find.
This isnt near as easy as looking into actual crypto itself. Odds are there aren't many big name websites or private pdfs from billionaires that are easy to get a hold of.
However I will start looking for some, and ill post what I find.
For now though Ill share my thoughts on crypto whales.
Do they exist? Sure. We know that 1000 people own 40% of all the bitcoin out there. And im sure its the same with smaller alt coins too. Do people with money want to make more money? Of course! Most arent out there to just give it all away.
But, are they really out here trying to screw millions of people just to make an extra 100k or so? I doubt it.
I am a strong believer that people in the world want to do good. I try and stay positive on almost every aspect of life and what goes on it, no matter how bad it really is. I think there are a few people, or teams that do want to make some extra cash, and dont care who they hurt to get it. However, i dont think they 100% control the market like people think.
In my opinion its a mix of BOTs and just people experimenting/hoping they have the right guess. They might see ENG down 2% in a 24h period, and say something like PO.ET go up 12%, so they quickly sell ENG and jump on that PO.ET bandwagon for 2-3 days and get some extra money hopefully...and then buy back into ENG or whatever else. I Truely believe it is people "coin hopping" that is crashing markets. People get scared and are afraid to hold on. Or see/hear about people who day trade and want to try it themselves too. We are still super early in the crypto market and average joes like myself are in it and have no idea WTF we are doing half the time. We have only bought and sold on video games or ebay, and think if we can make money on those, we can def make money buying and selling in the crypto world.
Bots are the other things that are keeping prices down. Im sure some of you have noticed them. You make a buy or sell order and something goes slightly lower in a fraction of a second..cancel your order and it cancels too. These are bots, and they make the price stay around the same price for as long as possible...and drive me insane lol. That is what the US Government is going after Link 1
And then we have things like Palm Beach Leaks - People pay to be apart of this group, and they sometimes have some great info. Are there whales in here? Maybe, but again I dont think these would be the whales that are out to get us. They are following charts, and "leaked" info, like the CBOE ETF filing(which isnt leaked lol, its public) and telling their customers what they think is a good buy/sell. They dont warp the market, they are going with the market, or acting in advance of where they think the market is about to go.
The other thing that people assume are "Crypto Whales" are these HUGE buy and sell walls that we see. I see these as fun and exciting and love to see them try and be broken down. I cheer to myself as we almost always move closer to knocking them down, and more so when the crumble. Binance has them all of the time, but alot of these walls are NOT from just one person. Maybe its a group, or maybe its just several people hoping on and like o0o this person thinks this is a good buy/sell price and i do too...and they join the wall, making it bigger. Sure whales could make a wall and it will greatly effect the price of things if its big enough. BUT, crypto itself has greatly gained in size over the years and these walls are breaking faster and faster every time. So if it is a whale doing it, it doesnt last as long as it use to, and they arent getting much out of it. Before long they wont exist.
Anyways, here are some links I found that help explain things
Different Type of Whales
Nice Reddit post about who we might think are whales/ or the types we might see
2 links about how they also feel whales are no manipulating the system
  • Link 4 - this guy benefits from telling us "no manipulation" though..so take what you will from it
  • Link 5
If i find anything linking to crypto whales working the system that i think is worth throwing in there, Ill add it to this last part of the post.
Please let me know what your thoughts are on whales, and what you have/havent seen happening. I love getting everyone involved and see what people think~!
Have a wonderful day, and smile big!!
